Stefan Stambolov Monument
Stefan Nikolov Stambolov is a noted Bulgarian statesman, revolutionary, politician, poet and journalist. An apostle of the Internal Revolutionary Organization, in 1875 and 1876 he led the preparation of the Staro Zagora and the April Uprising. After the Liberation of Bulgaria, he rose in the ranks of the Liberal Party. With his actions during the Unification and in the crisis after the coup of 1886, he contributed to the stabilization of the country and its detachment from Russian influence. The monument is located at the very beginning of the architectural complex “Samovodska charshiya”, opened in 1995.
