The Stambolov Bridge in Veliko Tarnovo is the first large-scale manifestation of modern European bridge construction in Bulgaria, and as a free-hanging, unsupported structure, it is one of the most important achievements in the Balkans. The facility was built in 1892 by the Austrian metal foundry company Rudolph Philipp Wagner.
