“Marno pole” park is located near the center of the town and is one of the most preferred places for recreation in Veliko Tarnovo. In the past, there was a medieval settlement here, and today the park is the organizational place of the annual international folklore festival, different concerts and cultural events which are hold at the summer theatre. The Christmas bazaar is one of those events and is loved by many guests and residents of Veliko Tarnovo.
Here, on the main alley, are the bust-monuments of the hero of the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), General Y. Gurko, unveiled in 1957 and the one of the first bulgarian General – Sava Mutkurov.
